President’s Welcome Message
2nd October 2019
We welcome Professor Rebecca Probert of Exeter University, who took up post as SLS President 2019-20 on October 1st.
“I am honoured to have been elected as the Society’s President for 2019-20. I have been a member of the Society for many years now and each year it is great to see numbers increase and the breadth of scholarship represented at the annual conference widen still further.
As President, I’m lucky to have a really great team of Officers, Executive Committee members and administrators to support me in my role. I’m particularly grateful that the immediate past president remains a member of Exec, so that we will continue to benefit from Richard Taylor’s in-depth knowledge of the Society. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Richard for all he has done for the SLS over the years and in particular for a truly wonderful conference at Preston.
Over the last year, we have been looking at the rules of the Society to make sure that they are fit for purpose and we will be consulting members on our planned changes. Most importantly, though, the SLS is your society – so if there are things that you would like the Society to be doing, or if you have ideas as to how the Society could support legal scholars at all stages of their careers, please do get in touch via your Constituency representative or directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope to see you at one or more of the Society’s events over the course of the year, and to welcome you to the University of Exeter on 1-4 September 2020 for the 111th annual conference.”
