The School of Law of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is pleased to announce that it will host this year’s annual Graduate Conference of the Society of Legal Scholars (SLS) from the afternoon of Monday 3 September to Tuesday 4 September 2018 at noon. Graduate students and persons in the early stages of their research careers are invited to submit papers on any law or law related topic.
The main SLS conference will be held at QMUL from Tuesday 4 September afternoon to Friday 7 September 2018 under the theme ‘Law in Troubled Times’. Persons offering contributions for the Graduate Conference are also welcomed to submit papers on this theme.
Abstracts no longer than 300 words are to be submitted to Santiago Wortman Jofre s.wortmanjofre@qmul.ac.uk by 17.30 BST on Monday 14 May 2018. Selected contributors will be asked to submit a short paper (maximum 5,000 words) by Friday 3 August 2018.
The Graduate Conference programme will include a session on ‘Getting Research Published’, as well as keynote speakers.
The Graduate Conference is generously funded by the SLS and there will be no attendance fee (there is a special graduate rate for those who wish to stay on for the main SLS conference). Accommodation will be available at the QMUL’s Mile End Campus for Monday 3 September 2018. Participants will be invited to the conference dinner which will be held at a venue in London on the evening of 3 September 2018.
Participants who require funding to attend the Graduate Conference are encouraged to approach their institutions. If this is unsuccessful and will prevent their ability to participate, some limited assistance may be available. Selected contributors will be given an opportunity to indicate whether they require assistance in this way.
