Conference: COVID-19 – Ethics under pressure
Monday 29th November 2021
We live in a chaotic world. We are well into our second year of a global pandemic. The vaccine grab by rich countries has left more impoverished and developing nations scrambling to vaccinate their citizens. What should our normative and practical responses be to those opportunistic governments that abuse the trust and authority given to them? All this while we are still under the looming storms of climate change and the refugee crises. Undoubtedly, ethics in law has taken the back seat for the time being. What are the implications for us and for future generations?
This two-day (29-30 November 2021) conference, organised by the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic (SULC) and supported by the International Association of Legal Ethics (IAOLE), aims to provide a platform for international academics, legal professionals, and interested thinkers to voice their opinions.
