SLS Library Statement 2009

Home → Library for a Modern Law School

The Society of Legal Scholars has undertaken a revision of the SLS Statement, A Library for a Modern Law School and the associated Indicative List of Sources for Law Libraries (formerly the Indicative List of Law Library Holdings). Work was undertaken on this by Dr Peter Clinch of Cardiff University, commissioned by SLS. This followed discussion within a working party for SLS, comprising the Hon Secretary and Jules Winterton of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (Chair of the SLS Libraries Sub Committee) as co-chairs, Professor Andy Boon from the University of Westminster and Peter Clinch. The work included questions to Law Librarians in the Annual BIALL/SLS Survey and a separate survey of Heads of Law Schools. We also had helpful comments from a number of individuals, and opened the drafts for public consultation.

The final draft of this revision was approved by the SLS Council at its meeting in September 2009 and is available here. If anyone has any questions, please contact the Hon Secretary, Stephen Bailey (stephen.bailey@nottingham.ac.uk), Jules Winterton (jules.winterton@sas.ac.uk) or Peter Clinch (ClinchPC@Cardiff.ac.uk).
