Revision of a Library for a Modern Law School and the associated Indicative List of Sources for Law Libraries: Consultation

Home → Revision of a Library for a Modern Law School

The Society of Legal Scholars is undertaking a revision of the SLS Statement, A Library for a Modern Law School and the associated Indicative List of Sources for Law Libraries (formerly the Indicative List of Law Library Holdings). Work has been undertaken on this by Dr Peter Clinch of Cardiff University, commissioned by SLS. This followed discussion within a working party for SLS, comprising myself and Jules Winterton of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (Chair of the SLS Libraries Sub Committee) as co-chairs, Professor Andy Boon from the University of Westminster and Peter Clinch. The work has included questions to Law Librarians in the Annual BIALL/SLS Survey and a separate survey of Heads of Law Schools.ÊWe have also had helpful comments from a number of individuals.

We are now at the stage of having revised drafts of both documents ready for public consultation. The documents may be downloaded below. We would be grateful if any comments you may have could be directed in the first instance to Stephen Bailey at stephen.bailey@nottingham.ac.uk. It would be helpful for comments to be received by May 1, 2009. After the consultation stage, a final version will be placed before the SLS Executive and Council for approval.

If anyone has any questions, please contact Stephen Bailey, Jules Winterton (jules.winterton@sas.ac.uk) or Peter Clinch (ClinchPC@Cardiff.ac.uk).
