9th Annual Conference on European Tort Law (ACET)
From April 8 to April 10, 2010, the Institute for European Tort Law of the
Austrian Academy of
Sciences (ETL) and the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL)
will host the
9th Annual Conference on European Tort Law in Vienna. The Conference will
present the developments that took place in tort law in Europe in 2009.
On Thursday evening (April 8, 2010) the Conference will begin with an
opening lecture by Lord Bingham of Cornhill (United Kingdom) followed by a
reception hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice.
On Friday (April 9, 2010), scholars from EU Member States and also from
Norway and Switzerland, will report on the latest developments in the field
of tort law in their respective jurisdictions. In addition, a brief
comparative overview and a presentation of developments at European
Community level will be provided.
The Conference continues on Saturday (April 10, 2010) with further lectures
in the field of tort law which, this year, will focus on the topic of
"Wrongful Life and Wrongful Death".
The results will be published in the "European Tort Law 2009" Yearbook.
Conference fee    € 400 (including a copy of the 2009 Yearbook)
Supporting members € 200 (including a copy of the 2009 Yearbook)
University staff, judges € 50 (conference only; Yearbook copy optional at
approx. € 80)
Jurists in training € 30 (conference only; Yearbook copy optional at
approx. € 80)
The fee includes the Conference materials, evening reception on Thursday,
buffet lunch on Friday, as well as refreshments during the Conference.
