Knowledge Politics Quarterly Journal, Volume 2, Issue 2, 2010

 

The Knowledge Politics Quarterly Journal (http://www.knowledgepolitics.org.uk) invites paper submissions for its next issue. We would be particularly interested in submissions from Postgraduate students and early-career academics, although all submissions are welcome.

The next edition will be a special issue, allowing researchers in all fields of social, political and economic science the opportunity to showcase their work. We would be particularly interested in papers that address one or more of the following themes (although all papers within the remit of knowledge politics will be considered – please email editors for more information):

 

         The role of the media or culture in the political realm;

         The role of public opinion in generating political responses;

         Issues concerning freedom-of-information law, or the quality of privacy in the media domain;

         Issues concerning the development of intellectual property law in the information society;

         The political implications of Business and E-commerce;

         Issues concerning the environment, green politics, and climate change;

         The political implications of new media technology;

         New developments in social and political theory;

         Irish/British/European/Middle-Eastern/Asian/African/American/Latin American politics;

         Medical, patent, and copyright law;

         The role of NGOs in politics;

         Radical social movements

 

 

We welcome both empirical (qualitative and quantitative) as well as theoretical or normative

contributions. Please submit articles between 3,000 and 10,000 words in length, inclusive of any footnotes and a bibliography, and a 200-word abstract, in Word format or as an .rtf file to the editors. Please also submit a short biographical note (no more than 300 words). Submissions to the KPQ journal can use either Harvard- or Oxford-style referencing.

 

The deadline for submitting papers is April 16, 2010. Applicants will be notified about the decision of the editorial committee by July 2, 2010.

 

Book reviews

We also welcome book reviews on any topic within the remit of knowledge politics (please contact editors for more information on what is and is not acceptable). Articles must be between 1,000 and 3,000 words in length, inclusive of any footnotes and a bibliography. Authors should also submit a short biographical note (no more than 300 words) with their submission, in a Word document separate from the article.

Knowledge Politics Quarterly Journal (KPQ) is an independent, multi-disciplinary academic journal founded in 2007, publishing original articles by established scholars, graduate students and non-academic practitioners. The topics covered by KPQ concern theory, policy and practice - including the media, the internet, broadcasting, technological development, and the social, political and economic implications of new information and communication technology.

Submitting Your Article

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by two members of the Editorial Board as selected by the Editorial Team. Authors are required to alter their articles on the basis of feedback received from the editor and reviewers, or justify to the editor why the proposed change has been rejected. Articles must be double-spaced throughout, and must use the font ‘Arial’ or equivalent, size 12, justified text. Section headings should be lower-case and emboldened.
